PURPOSE: To enable the discrimination of an area marked with color on a black and white original and cutting out the area by obtaining two digital outputs from an analog output of an image sensor and cutting out the area of a low density level.
CONSTITUTION: Graphic data on the scanning line of an original is projected on the image sensor 1 to obtain analog output data. The analog data enters two A/D converters 3a, 3b through an amplifier 2 and converted to digital signals. Threshold value of the A/D converter 3a is set lower than that of the A/D converter 3b. The difference between originals written with color mark pen etc. and written in black and white appears in the difference of threshold values, the converter 3a detects both data and the converter 3b detects the latter data. The output of the A/D converters 3a, 3b is sent to a data processing section 7 by a reading control section 6 through registers 4a, 4b and gates 5a, 5b.
