Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a titled compsn. for molding sand for a shell mold which improves the strength of a casting mold without decreasing the curing speed and melt sticking point thereof by consisting said compsn. of a prescribed ratio of a phenolic resin and polyester plasticizer.
CONSTITUTION: A titled compsn. contains 100pts.wt. a phenolic resin and 1W 15pts.wt. a polyester plasticizer. The compsn. and heated molding sand are kneaded and molding sand for a shell mold is obtd. The molding sand has the curing speed and melt sticking point which are virtually the same as those of the conventional sand and a casting mold having high strength is obtd. from said sand.
