PURPOSE: To enable a titled frame to deal with the change in die height and the detaching from a stuck condition during the operation of a press with a simple operation, by interposing prop members which act to detach the crown part and head part of a press between both parts.

CONSTITUTION: The crown 1, column 2 and bed 3 of a press are tightened by means of tie rods 4, and two pieces of prop members 5 and total four pieces on the right and left sides are provided between the front and rear columns 2 and 2. The top end face of the member 5 is fixed to the bottom surface of the crown 1 and the bottom end face to the top surface of the bed 3. If the change in die height with lapse of time is once measured during the operation of the press, the change rate with time remains approximately constant. It is therefore possible to hold approximately optimum die height during the operation by regulating the pressure of the pressure oil supplied through a feed and discharge port 10 in accordance with the change rate of the die height. If a stuck condition arises, the crown and bed parts are easily detached by supplying the pressure oil of a proper pressure.
