PURPOSE: To stop the recording operation automatically when a recording paper runs out, by constituting the device so that contents of a recording paper remainder storage part are counted down each time when a certain quantity of the thermosensitive recording paper is supplied and the recording operation is stopped when the recording paper remainder reaches a certain value.

CONSTITUTION: A recording device control part 3 consists of a microprocessor 4, an RAM memory 5, an ROM memory 6, a keyboard 7, a CRT display device 8, a mini disc device 9, a recording device control circuit 10, etc. A recording paper remainder storage part 13 is provided in a part of the RAM memory 5, and the device is so programmed that the data value stored in the recording paper remainder storage part 13 is counted down each time when a certain quantity of a thermosensitive recording paper 2 is supplied and the operation of a recording device main body 1, namely, the sliding operation of a recording head and the paper feeding operation are stopped when this data value is zero.
