PURPOSE: To improve the accuracy of a binary coded pattern and to realize an automatic detection of position with high accuracy and at a high speed, by deciding the threshold value based on the pattern of a subject only for a specific region within the pattern.
CONSTITUTION: A magnified image sent from a pellet 1 is divided into two partial images by a reflector 11 and converted into analog video signals by photoelectric converters 14-0 and 14-1. Mounting stands 15-0 and 15-1 for shift of TV camera control the viewfields of the converters 14-0 and 14-1 in response to the pellet 1. A video processor 17 binary codes the analog video signal and detects and processes a pad. In this case, the binary coding is carried out with the threshold value that is decided from a pattern of only the specific resion of the pellet 1. A computer 21 obtains the positions of all pads in accordance with the pad position obtained by the processor 17. Then each pad is automatically connected to an external electrode by an automatic wire bonder 25 via a metallic line.
