To obtain the subject new protein useful for treating diseases related to tumor necrosis factor(TNF) and detecting TNF, comprising a protein in a uniform state bound to TNF, having a specific molecular weight and containing an amino acid sequence.

This new protein has about 55kD or 75kD molecular weight by SDS-PAGE under non-reducing conditions and contains at least one amino acid sequence of formula I (Xaa is an undetermined amino acid residue), formula II, etc., is an insoluble protein in a uniform state bound to tumor necrosis factor(TNF), its soluble or insoluble fragment or its salt except a soluble protein bondable to TNF and is useful for treating diseases related to TNF and is useful for detecting TNF. The protein is obtained by purifying an cell extract of HL60 cell by immunoaffinity chromatography and/or single or plural ligand affinity chromatography, HPLC and SDS-PAGE for preparation.
