A toilet apparatus includes: a crushing device 2, which receives dirty excreta and wash water for washing a toilet bowl and crushes the excreta and transforms it into excreta fluid, or which receives the wash water for rinsing and rinses the interior of the crushing device 2 with the wash water to transform the wash water into rinse fluid; an air compressor 6 for applying compressed air to the excreta fluid discharged from the crushing device 2 or the rinse fluid discharged from the crushing device 2 and pumping the excreta fluid or the rinse fluid to a disposal place; and a control unit 8 for controlling the air compressor 6 so as to start pumping the excreta fluid discharged from the crushing device 2 as well as controlling the crushing device 2 so as to receive the wash water for rinsing and start rinsing the interior of the crushing device 2.
