A toilet seat box 2 is installed on the top face of the rear part of a western style toilet, a toilet seat 3 and a toilet lid 10 are fitted to the front of the toilet seat box 2 to be turned to rise and fall. The top face of the toilet seat box 2 is provided with a catching part 5 for catching the rear edge of the toilet lid 10 when the toilet lid 10 is turned backward to rise at a predetermined angle to stop the further backward turning of the toilet lid 10. The catching part 5 is located in the vicinities of the right and left side edges of the top face of the toilet seat box 2, and the space between the catching parts 5, 5 is equal to or a little smaller than the lateral width of the rear edge of the toilet lid 10, so that when the toilet lid 10 is turned to rise, the respective catching parts 5 respectively abut on each corner part where the right and left stopper parts S and the right and left rear ends of a hanging plate part 12 intersect each other or its immediate part.
