Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately estimate the toner amount of a toner patch formed on a transfer belt, without being affected by the attachment accuracy of a regular reflection sensor, the travel fluttering of the transfer belt, roller eccentricity, or the like.SOLUTION: A toner amount estimation device forms toner patches of a plurality of colors including at least black toner on an intermediate transfer belt 20 on which a toner image transferred to a paper sheet S is formed and includes one light source 61 capable of adjusting a light quantity, a light-receiving sensor 62 which receives reflection light from the intermediate transfer belt 20, and signal processing computing means 65 which estimates the toner amount on the basis of the output of the light-receiving sensor 62. The light-receiving sensor 62 includes nine sensors 71 to 79 which can receive light regularly reflected when the light radiated from the light source 61 is reflected by the surface of the intermediate transfer belt 20 and are arranged in positions adjacent to each other. The signal processing computing means 65 processes and computes the respective signals of the sensors 71 to 79, to estimate the toner amount.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
