Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the operability of exchanging toner by moving a develop ing device where a certain color toner the development of which is ended is housed to a toner displacing position after completing color synthesis copying when a certain color toner is ended in case of color synthesis copying. CONSTITUTION:The title device is constituted of a photosensitive drum 9, 1st-3rd developing devices 12a-12c, photosensors 33-35 and toner cartridge sensor 36, etc. When a certain color becomes toner end during copying in such a copying mode that the color synthesis is performed by combining plural colors, copying of other colors is continued if copying of the number of sheets regis tered for said color is completed and the developing device housing the toner color which happens to end is moved to the toner displacing position after the color synthesis copying is completed. Thus, the operability can be improved since the developing device where the toner end is controlled to automatically move to the toner displacing or replenishing position after completing copying.
