PURPOSE: To obtain a toner having superior flowability, electrostatic chargeability, developing property and improved cleanability by dispersing a monomer compsn. chargeable positively or negatively in water in an aq. phase contg. an inorg. an inorg. dispersant and a polymer emulsion charged with the reverse polarity and polymerizing the monomer compsn. in the presence of a polymn. initiator.
CONSTITUTION: A monomer conpsn. chargeable positively or negatively in water is dispersed in a dispersive medium contg. a polymer emulsion and an inorg. dispersant charged with the reverse polarity. The polymer emulsion 3 and the inorg. dispersant 4 are stuck to the surfaces of the dispersed oil droplets 2 of the monomer compsn. dispersed in the aq. phase 1 and the monomer compsn. is polymerized. Since the droplets 2 hardly aggregate or convert into fine particles in the polymn. stage, a toner is obtd. as spherical particles having a sharp particle size distribution and has superior flowability. The toner also has superior cleanability and electrostatic charge characteristics because of partial coating with the polymer having polarity.
