PURPOSE: To obtain an image having high quality and high density over a long period in a developing method for attaining development while applying a pulse bias in the range nor causing the reverse development of the toner in multicolor superimposing development on a photosensitive body by composing the toner of a binder resin and a colorant, obtaining a specific volume-averaged grain size and specifying the average electrifying quantity of the toner on a toner carrier.
CONSTITUTION: In the method for coating a developer carrier 20 with the toner 60 in multilayer and attaining the development with the toner in the contact or non-contact with an after-image holder 10 composed of an organic photosensitive body facing the developer carrier 20, the toner 60 is used in the image forming method developing by flying the carried toner 60 on the surface of the after-image holder 10 in a developing part 80, while a pulse electric field in the range where the toner 60 is not reversely flown from the after-image holder 10 is applied. The toner 60 is composed of at least the binder resin and the colorant, further, the volume-averaged grain size is in 7μm-10μm range and the absolute value of the average electrifying quantity of the toner 60 on the toner carrier 20 is made within 5-18MC/g.
