PURPOSE: To obtain a toner having an excellent electrostatic characteristic by incorporating a specific metallic complex compd. having a negative electrostatic charge characteristic and good compatibility with a resin as an electrostatic charge control agent and a coloring agent in said toner.
CONSTITUTION: The 2:1 type metallic complex compd. expressed by the formula is incorporated as an electrostatic charge control agent and a coloring agent in a toner for developing an electrostatic latent image. Such complex compd. is obtd. by treating an azomethine compd. with a Cr or Co or Fe donating agent and further adjusting pH or using an amine in the stage of drawing out the product. The complex. obtd. in such a way has a large negative electrostatic charge quantity in itself, has extremely good compatibility with various binder resins and distributes uniformly in the respective toner particles, whereby an excellent toner is obtd. The toner contg. such complex forms not only the same image with the initial copy but in high speed continuous copying as well, whereby the sharp image having no photographic fog is obtd.
