To provide toner for electrostatic charge development, which contains colorant dispersed uniformly, is free of fog and ununiform image density in high colorant concentration, and is low in toner consumption.
The method comprises: a step of melting and kneading a colorant with a self-water-dispersible resin in advance so that the colorant is uniformly and finely dispersed in the resin, thereby obtaining an melt-and-kneaded resin object containing, as essential fundamental components, the self-water-dispersible resin and the colorant; a step of inversely emulsifying the melt-and-kneaded resin object dissolved in a hydrophobic organic solvent, thereby forming colorant-including particles in an aqueous medium; a step of separating the colorant-including particles from the aqueous medium and drying them.
