To provide a toner for electrostatic image development excellent in color reproducibility, color developing property and transparency, and capable of giving an image having satisfactory color developing property and good image property with a small amount of a colorant.
An organic pigment or carbon black dispersion (A) prepared by subjecting an organic dye derivative or a triazine derivative having a basic or acidic functional group, and an organic pigment or carbon black to adsorptive treatment in an organic solvent in the presence of an acid or a base, and a resin (B) which is solid at ordinary temperature are heat-kneaded, the solvent is removed to form a resin coated colorant (C), and this resin coated colorant (C) and additives such as a charge control agent and a release agent are heat-kneaded, pulverized and classified to obtain the toner for electrostatic image development. The additives such as the charge control agent and the release agent may be kneaded in heat kneading for forming the resin coated colorant (C).
