To provide a toner having stable charging performance in a high humidity environment, and to provide a method of manufacturing the toner.
In a dispersion liquid preparation step (s1), a melt-kneaded material containing at least a binder resin, a colorant and barium sulfate particles subjected to a hydrophobic treatment on the surfaces is formed into fine particles to prepare a dispersion liquid having the fine particles of the melt-kneaded material dispersed in a liquid medium. In an aggregation step (s2), the fine particles of the melt-kneaded material included in the dispersion liquid are aggregated. Thereby, the obtained toner contains toner particles containing at least a binder resin and a colorant, to which barium sulfate particles subjected to a hydrophobic treatment on the surfaces are internally added.
