PURPOSE: To prevent the malfunction of a swell detecting sensor by providing a toner recovering container with an escape mechanism without leaking toner.
CONSTITUTION: As for a chamber 8, an air vent 9 and a sheet material 10 which prevents waste toner 2 from leaking outside the toner recovering container 5 are provided on its top part, and a swell detecting rubber 11 on its bottom part. When the waste toner 2 accumulates in the toner recovering container 5, air inside of the toner recovering container 5 is compressed and escapes to the outside of the toner recovering container 5 from the air vent 9. Then the waste toner 2 bursts into the chamber part 8 from the side wall on the side opposite from an opening 6, although, the waste toner 2 never leaks from the air vent 9 positioned higher than the ceiling of the toner recovering container 5. Thus, the detecting rubber 11 is prevented from swelling and actuating a swell detector 12.
