Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a tonic agent which contains a saponin derivative and has an action reduce hemorrhage and can be effectively given on operation.

CONSTITUTION: The tonic agent contains 20 (S)-protopanaxadiol-3-[β-D- glucopyranosyl (1→2)]-β-D-xylopyranoside as a major ingredient and has blood- activating action. The compound of formula I is obtained by subjecting the Panax Schinseng saponin III of formula II extracted from a plant, Panax Schinseng Nees var. Japonicum Makino in Araliaceae to enzymolysis with β-glucosidase. The efficacious does of the compound is 15 to 25mg in intravenous injection and 50 to 100mg in oral administration in the case of emergent blood activation for blood flooding.
