To provide a tool changing method of a honing machine and the honing machine, for allowing miniaturization, and efficiently changing a tool.
This honing machine includes a hone set constituted by coaxially arranging a honing head 3 suspended and held by a hanger 2 and a hone guide 4 opposed to the honing head 3, a slide base 5 for arranging a plurality of sets of the hone sets in the X axis direction, a shuttle mechanism for coaxially positioning the selected hone set to a spindle 6 among the respective hone sets by slidingly moving the slide base 5, and a delivery mechanism for delivering the honing head 3 between the spindle 6 and the hanger 2 by axially moving and rotating the spindle 6. Thus, an automatic tool changing device (ATC) is extremely compactly constituted, and the whole device can be miniaturized. The axial movement when changing an automatic tool is miniaturized, and efficiency of honing can be largely enhanced.
