Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a tool for an engraving machine having an insert support which is easy to replace an insert for allowing a large dimensional tolerance of the insert.
CONSTITUTION: A lengthy support 11a has a pocket 18. An insert 19 has a rear portion 22 capable of being press injected to the pocket. The portion 22 has an oblique flat surface 24 and a peripheral surface made of a partly columnar surface. The pocket 18 has an oblique surface 25 and a partly cylindrical surface corresponding to the rear surface of the insert. The surface 25 is contoured so as to exhibit a convex curve directed toward the corresponding surface 24 in radial and/or lengthwise direction of the support 11a. Thus, the curve allows a large tolerance of an oblique angle to the columnar surface of the oblique flat surface, thereby improving an insert retaining effect of the pocket.
