PURPOSE: To directly deliver a tool between a spindle and a tool holder by providing a plurality of driving means which are arranged so as to oppose respective tool holders supported movably in the axial direction and move the tool holders.
CONSTITUTION: A holding spindle 11 for a tool 14 of ended working is moved to the opposing position of the tool 14 and a tool post 23 by relative movement of a table and a slider to be positioned on a tool exchange position. At this time when the tool post 23 is corresponding to the position X1-Y9, a solenoid valve Y9 is actuated to communicate a fluid passage 36 to the atmosphere, and simultaneously a solenoid valve X1 is actuated to supply compressed air to a fluid passage 34. Meanwhile, as the passage 36 of a cylinder 34 connected to the valve Y9 is communicated to the atmosphere, a piston 37 is raised with the supplied compressed air from the passage 34 to push up the tool post 23. Nextly, when the tool post 23 holds the ring 15 of the tool 14 of the spindle 11 on the tool exchange position, a spindle 8 opens a chuck 13 to release the tool 14 and deliver the tool 14 to the tool post 23.
