To provide a tool for inspecting the end face of an optical fiber, an inexpensive microscope with a small aperture that can simply observe the entire tip end of the optical fiber, even when the optical fiber is an optical fiber ribbon having a comparatively large number of optical fibers (8 or more fibers).
The tool for inspecting the end face of an optical fiber 1 is characterized in that one or both of a pair of positioning walls 21, 22 for positioning a fiber holder 4 are made a positioning piece movable with respect to a holder placing base 2, wherein the pair of positioning walls 21, 22 are installed on both left and right sides of the holder placing base 2 on which the fiber holder 4 is placed holding an optical fiber ribbon 5, and that, the groove width of a holder housing groove 29 between the pair of positioning walls 21, 22 can be changed by the operation of the movable positioning piece(s).
