To provide a tool for retaining the lid of a cable pit that is less susceptible to impact when a vehicle runs on an object or on other like occasions and obtains sufficient retaining force for a pit lid.
The tool for retaining the lid of a cable pit is constructed of: legs 4, 4 to be fit into a pair of through holes 3, 3 formed on both sides of the abutted portions 2 of adjacent pit lids 1, 1; and a retaining portion 5 that is installed on the upper parts of the legs 4, 4 and is placed on the upper face of the pit lids 1, 1. The retaining portion 5 is extended outward on both sides of the legs 4, 4, and its lower face 6 is formed flat so that it is brought into close contact with the surfaces of the pit lids 1, 1. The upper face 7 of the retaining portion 5 has tapered portions 7a, that is, the upper face is so formed that is tapered toward the ends of extension.
