To provide a tooth profile formation device and a tooth profile formation method allowing an end part on a tooth profile side to be chamfered at low machining cost.
The tooth profile formation device of a spiral bevel gear is provided with a cutter 24 on which a plurality of blades are arranged at periphery, a rotation means for rotating the cutter 24 in the peripheral direction, and an advance and retraction means 56 for letting the cuter advance and retract along a rotary shaft. The advance and retraction means 56 lets the cutter 24 advance to a workpiece side before the blade starts cutting of a tooth profile side face and lets it retract to a predetermined cutting position on the tooth profile side face immediately after the blade starts cutting.
