To provide a tooth status detecting method and its apparatus, capable of accurately measuring solution properties of a dental caries surface, such as pH or the like, on an outside of the tooth.
A spongy member 15A on a measuring electrode 2 side is inserted into a cavity 21 of a tooth 20 to be in touch with it, and a spongy member 15B on a comparison electrode 4 side is provided to abut a healthy part 22 of the tooth 20. Non buffer solution is positively supplied not only into a dental caries 21a surface 21a of the cavity 21 but also into a dental caries narrow 21b such as a recess of a fine pore or the like concaved on a bottom surface of the cavity 21, and into a surface of the healthy part 22. When surfaces of the dental caries surface 21a, the dental caries narrow 21b, and the healthy part 22 are in wet condition, pH is measured by the measuring electrode 2 touching the spongy member 15A and the comparison electrode 4 touching the spongy member 15B.
