PURPOSE: To improve the shape accuracy of a workpiece and to shorten a grindstone correction time with the deviation of a grindstone shape from a design shape curve detected as the moving quantity of a touching needle by installing a grindstone shape measuring mechanism separately or on a NC trueing mechanism.
CONSTITUTION: After a dresser 9 is moved so as to contact the given surface of a grindstone 3 with a NC trueing transfer mechanism 8 and formed, the grindstone 3 is fransfered to a grindstone shape measuring position to move a grindstone shape measuring mechanism 1 to a given position. The moving direction of the tip of a sensor part 2, composed of a differential transformer type displacement gauge to which a diamond ball is fitted, is vertically adjusted to the curved surface of a grindstone shape by the xyθ moving of a grindstone shape measuring instrument 1, and moved along the grindstone shape to determine the grindstone shape as a difference with a target shape. Since the tooth surface of a work material 6 is ground, and a tooth surface shape is measured with a threedimension measuring instrument to determine the relational expression of the grindstone and tooth surface shapes when the grindstone shape is within a given error, and the grindstone 3 is formed based on the relational expression when the shape of the work piece 6 is out of accuracy, thereby the shape accuracy of the work material 6 can be improved, and a grindstone 3 shape processing time can be shortened.
