A printer 10 comprises a drive pulley 16 rotationally driven by a motor 14; and a driven pulley 18. A toothed belt 30 is wound around the two pulleys 16 and 18 with a given tension. A carriage part 12 is fixed on the toothed belt 30. The toothed belt 30 is provided with a belt body formed of chloroprene rubber having hardness 70JIS-A. A belt bottom part 32 and a belt tooth part 34 are formed one surface of the belt body and canvass cloth is formed on its surface. The canvass cloth is treated by resorcin-formalin-latex liquid.
