A toothed belt is formed that a plurality of tooth parts 2 are situated at intervals on a belt body 1 along a longitudinal direction and tooth cloth 4 is laminated on the surface of a tooth bottom part 3 between the tooth parts 2 and 2. In the do formed toothed belt, the tooth cloth 4 is formed of woven cloth using threads of water soluble fibers as warps 5 and the warps 5 are laminated in a manner to point to the direction of the width of the belt. The laminated water soluble fibers of the tooth cloth 4 are dissolved in water for removal. Recessed parts 15 and cavity parts 15a are formed in the tooth cloth 4, covering the surfaces of the tooth part 2 and the tooth bottom parts 3, by marks formed through removal of threads of the water soluble fibers.
