PURPOSE: To provide a top in which a rack member arranged in one of notch parts formed in a top holding member, is meshed with a pinion part formed at the outer periphery of the shaft of the top held by the top holding member so that the top is rotated by pulling the rack member in one direction, and the top is ejected from the notch of the top holding member simultaneously with the rotation, so that the top can be rotated.

CONSTITUTION: A top device comprises a top holding member having opposed parts at the distal end thereof, formed therein with notch parts, a rack member 5 arranged in one of the notch parts of the top holding member 4, a top 6 having a shaft whose upper and lower parts are fitted in upper and lower notch parts in the top holding member 4 so as to be rotatably held, and a pinion part provided around the shaft of the top 6. Further, when a rack member 5 adapted to be meshed with the pinion part is pulled out in one direction, the top is rotated, and the top on rotation is separated from the notch parts for rotation.
