PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide top plate elevating and lowering type furniture capable of performing a top plate elevating and lowering operation intuitively and easily.SOLUTION: Top plate elevating and lowering type furniture 1 includes a top plate 2 having a top face 3 and an undersurface 4, a support body 5 connected to the top plate 2 which is extensible and contractible in a plate thickness direction of the top plate 2, a sensor 11 that can detect contact of a user from the top face 3 side of the top plate 2, and contact of the user from the undersurface 4 side of the top plate 2, and a control part for controlling an extension and contraction operation of the support body 5 on the basis of the result of the detection by the sensor 11 so that when the contact of the user with the top plate 2 from the top face 3 side of the top plate 2 is detected, the support body 5 is contracted, and when the contact of the user with the top plate 2 from the undersurface 4 side of the top plate 2, the support body 5 is extended.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
