PURPOSE: To provide a topcoating composition good in sagging resistance, capable of giving thick coating films with good appearance even by a single coating.

CONSTITUTION: The objective topcoating composition comprises (A) a film- forming polymer having functional group reactive with crosslinking agents, (B) a volatile organic diluent capable of carrying the component A, (C) a crosslinking agent soluble in the component B, (D) crosslinked polymeric fine particles insoluble but stably dispersible in the components A to C (prepared by polymerizing a monomer component consisting mainly of a 1-4C alkyl methacrylate in the presence of a polymer ≤10°C in glass transition temperature, mainly composed of units derived from a 2-8C alkyl methacrylate and a crosslinkable monomer.), and (E) a pigment.
