To provide a torn yarn which is obtained by tearing a cloth and has such a strength as capable of being also used as a warp, and to provide a fabric which has a soft touch and a fuzzy hand and is elastic, thereby enabling the complete change of conventional techniques for the torn yarn-woven fabrics.

This strong torn yarns are produced by tearing a cloth in a tape-like shape, twisting the torn products, and then steaming the twisted products in such a method as untwisting the twisted products. The torn yarns are woven as warps and wefts in one of various tissues to produce the woven fabric.
