To provide an inexpensive toroidal continuously variable transmission of high cooling performance, which simplifies a structure of a lubricating oil supply passage to a traction surface and a bearing part of a power roller while preventing splashes of lubricating oil during rotation of the power roller.
The toroidal continuously variable transmission has a lubricating oil guide cover 300 extended to guide lubricating oil to the traction surface of the power roller 11. Specifically, the power roller 11 is covered with the lubricating oil guide cover 300 except for the traction surface, where the power roller 11 is in oil film contact with disks 2 and 3. The traction oil flows along the surface of the power roller 11 until it reaches the traction surface. The traction oil thus resides around the traction surface without any splashes and for a long time to cool the power roller 11 efficiently.
