Abstract:
To provide a toroidal-type continuously variable transmission having a longer life by suppressing the development of flaking or cracking in the power transmission surface of an input/output side rotary disc or a power roller.
At least one of the input side rotary disc 2, the output side rotary disc 4 and the power roller 9 is formed of an iron and steel material containing 0.8-1.4wt.% carbon, 0.4-1.8wt.% silicon, 0.3-1.8wt.% manganese, 0.8-2.0wt.% chrome and 1.0 or less wt.% molybdenum, which is subjected to austempering treatment after carbonitriding treatment.
