Abstract:
To provide a toroidal type continuously variable transmission which can supply a necessary and sufficient amount of a lubrication oil to a thrust (ball) bearing without lowering durability of a power roller.SOLUTION: A toroidal type continuously variable transmission includes: an axial oil passage 80 which extends toward a power roller 11 in a thrust direction so as to penetrate through an outer ring 28 and a pivot shaft part 23b of a displacement shaft 23 and to which a lubrication oil is supplied from the trunnion side; and radial oil passages 90 each of which is branched from the axial oil passage 80 and extends to a corresponding rolling element 26 of a thrust bearing 24 in a radial direction to supply the lubrication oil to the rolling element 26. In the axial oil passage 80, a small cross sectional area part 84 having a cross sectional area smaller than a cross sectional area of the radial oil passage 90 is provided at the downstream side relative to a branch part 92, at which the radial oil passages 90 are branched from the axial oil passage 80, when viewed in a lubrication oil supply direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
