In target engine output torque operation processing 12 corresponding to the target engine output power PEdmd, target engine output torque TEdmd is computed using a prescribed operation expression based on engine speed Ne. In target engine shaft torque operation processing 14, engine loss torque TEloss is subtracted from the target engine output torque TEdmd to finally compute target engine shaft torque TSdmd. Few conformable man-hours are thereby needed, and the target engine output torque TEdmd computed by the operational expression, and the target engine shaft torque TSdmd can be smoothly changed to improve torque controllability.
