To provide a torque converter with a lock-up clutch, for actualizing smooth connection of the lock-up clutch in a low vehicle speed region while preventing stick-slip due to wave undulation on both friction surfaces of a transmission cover and a clutch piston.
In the torque converter, the lock-up clutch L which can mechanically connect the transmission cover 5 to a turbine impeller 2 has a first friction surface 44 formed on the inside face of the transmission cover 5, and a second friction surface 45 formed on one side face of the clutch piston 25 connected to the turbine impeller 2 movably in the axial direction for engaging/disengaging with/from the first friction surface. The transmission cover 5 to be joined to the pump impeller 1 with liquid tightness has a welding bead 56 on the outer periphery, extending in the peripheral direction of a plurality of streaks for lapping the ends on each other. The wave undulation 47 having mountain portions 47a different in the number of lapping portions 56a of the welding bead 56 having the plurality of streaks is formed on the second friction surface 45.
