To provide a lock-up clutch preventing partial wear of a friction member.
The torque converter is provided with the lock-up clutch 22 with a piston 23 formed such that, in a state separated away from a cover 2, an outer circumference part is nearer to the cover 2 in an axial direction as it is further away from a center. It is characterized by that, in the piston, a thin annular elastic member 50 is fixed to the outer circumference part, the elastic member is composed of an outer circumference part fixed to the piston and an inner circumference part formed in an inner side of the outer circumference part and in parallel with the cover, the friction member 23d is fixed to the inner circumference part, and a sliding contact face 23g to be engaged with the cover of the friction member is installed in parallel with an engagement face 23e of the cover.
