Abstract:

To provide a torque converter using a two-way hydraulic lock-up mechanism for closing a lubricating oil path in a lock-up condition while securing the lubricating oil path in a slipping lock-up condition.

The torque converter with a lock-up clutch has facings 10, 11 on the face of the lock-up clutch 8 on the front cover side and on the face of a front cover 9 on the lock-up clutch side, respectively. One of the two facings 10, 11 has an inner diameter almost equal to the outer diameter of the other. They have grooves 12, 13 in the surfaces, extending from the outer peripheries to the inner peripheries, respectively.
