To provide a torque converter of high fluid transmission efficiency and of low cost, by arranging a straightening vane between a turbine impeller and a stator impeller, otherwise between the stator impeller and a pump impeller, with no increase in the number of components and machining man hours.
At least either a pump impeller 1 or a turbine impeller 2 comprises a shell S, a plurality of blades B connected to the inner surface of the shell S, and a ring-like holding plate R which is bonded to the inner surface of the shell S to press a radial inner end part of the blades B. The holding plate R constitutes a straightening vane close to a stator impeller 4 such that the inner peripheral surface of the shell S facing a circulation circuit 3 is continuous to the outer peripheral surface of a hub 4h facing the circulation circuit 3 of the stator impeller 4.
