The torque converter includes a front cover 2, the impeller 4, a turbine 5 and a stator 6. The impeller 4 includes an impeller shell 10 connected to the front cover 2, a plurality of impeller blades 11 provided inside the shell 10, and an impeller hub 13. The impeller hub 13 is formed of a cylinder extending axially and having an end of an engine side, which is fixed to the inner periphery of the impeller shell 10 by friction welding and has a burr 13b generated at the friction welding.
