Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque converter which can suppress the drag of a clutch, in the torque converter having a multiplate-type lockup clutch.SOLUTION: A clearance between a first disc 38 and a second disc 44 is secured by the join of a piston 48 and the first disc 38 which adjoins the piston 48, and drag is suppressed. Since an opening area B of an opening 62 which is formed in a clearance between a clutch hub 36 and the first disc 38 is smaller than an opening area A of an oil groove 58, oil actively flows into the oil groove 58, and the first disc 38 and the second disc 44 can be further suppressed to be pushed to an engagement side by the oil. Furthermore, since the oil actively flows into the oil groove 58, the cooling performance of the first disc 38 which is joined to the piston 48 is improved.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
