To provide a torque damper compact in structure, low in manufacturing cost and small in space requirement for operation so that device in a body where the damper is placed can be made small.
A torque damper 1 comprises an external member 2 with a cylindrical space 4 of the external member 2 and an internal member 3 whose one end is inserted into the space 4, and obtains friction load by bringing the interior wall of the space 4 into sliding contact with the exterior wall of the internal member 3 inserted into the space 4, in a circumferential direction. A sliding member 15 formed of foam is placed at least partially the external wall of the internal member 3 abutting against the interior wall of the external member 2 of the torque damper 1.
