To provide a torque detector that can precisely detect torque on a steering shaft and a steering angle of a steering wheel in an automobile via a small size and low cost.

The torque detector 1 interconnects an input shaft 2 and an output shaft 3 via a torsion bar 4 assembled in the input and output shafts 2 and 3, and detects torque on the input and output shafts 2 and 3 from an angle of torsion of the torsion bar 4. About the input shaft 2 and the output shaft 3, cylindrical detection rings 7 and 9 with magnetic part groups 5 and 8 at a peripheral end are mounted respectively so that the magnetic part groups 5 and 8 are proximal to each other.
