To provide a torque limiter to set cutoff torque differing with the rotation direction of a rotary body on the driven side and have an increased life, in a torque transfer device to transfer torque generated by a drive source to the driven side.
This torque limiter comprises an output shaft 2 to output corresponding to torque generated by a drive source 1; a rotary body 3 on the drive side rotated togetherwith the output shaft 2; a rotary body 4 on the driven side disposed opposite to the rotary body 3 on the drive side; groove parts 13 and 16 of two rotary bodies formed in the positions situated opposite to each other of both the rotary body 3 on the drive side and the rotary body 4 on the driven side; a rolling body 6 arranged between the groove parts 13 and 16 of both the rotary bodies; and an elastic body 7 to press the rolling body 6. When torque exceeding a limit torque value is applied on the rotary body 4 on the driven side, transfer of torque is cut off against the press force of an elastic body 7 by separating the rolling body 6 from at least one of the groove parts 13 and 16 of the rotary bodies.
