To provide a torque limiting mechanism capable of highly accurately operating a driven body.
This torque limiting mechanism can transmit torque of a rotational drive shaft to a driven shaft, and includes a transmission part arranged so as to be capable of contacting with at least a part of a peripheral surface of at least one rotary shaft out of the rotational drive shaft and the driven shaft and transmitting the torque to the driven shaft by frictional force generated by contacting with the rotary shaft in a state of adding force in the direction different from the axial direction of the rotary shaft, a detecting part for detecting a relative rotating speed between the rotational driving shaft and the driven shaft, and a control part capable of moving at least a part of the transmission part in the moving direction of the rotary shaft by driving a driving part. The control part makes the driving part perform decelerating operation for decelerating the rotating speed by moving at least a part of the transmission part in the moving direction of the rotary shaft at a moving speed corresponding to the detected rotating speed and by moving at least a part of the transmission part by a contact state of generating the predetermined frictional force.
