To provide a torque motor with flat torque characteristics.

Magnet groups 43 and 44 are respectively composed of a plurality of flat plate magnets 43a and 44a which have identical dimensions and are bonded to the outer circumference of a rotor core 42. The angular position of the magnet 44a facing the rear edge 104 of a stator 50, the angular position of the magnet 43a facing the front edge 103 of the stator 50 and the angular position of the magnet 43a facing the rear edge 102 of the stator 50 are respectively shifted from the front side edge in the rotating direction of the magnet 44a by (1/4)A, (1/2)A and (3/4)A when the front side edge in the rotating direction of the magnet 44a reaches the front edge of the stator 50. If a torque ripple generated at one edge of the stator pokes is used as a reference, the phases of the torque ripples generated at the other edges of the stator poles are shifted from the reference by (1/4±1/12) period, (1/2±1/12) period and (3/4±1/12) period respectively. Therefore, the torque ripples cancel each other. With this constitution, flat characteristics can be obtained as a whole torque motor.
