Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold forming tap which improves a tool life through reduction of working torque.
SOLUTION: In a profile of a projected part of a cold forming tap, an exact round part (margin) is arranged to stabilize cold forming. The exact round part causes a larger friction resistance, which increases the working torque, causes occurrence of melting and sticking to the tap and affects the tool life. The new cold forming tap has a small relief angle in the part corresponding to the exact round part, which can reduce the working torque and extend the tool life.
