In this torque releasing device 1 comprising a shaft-shaped first member 11, and a cylindrical second member 12 mounted at an outer peripheral side of the first member 11, transmitting the torque by frictionally connecting the first member 11 and the second member 12 by hydraulic pressure of a hydraulic passage 26 formed on the first member 11 or the second member 12, and inhibiting the transmission of torque by releasing the frictional connection when the torque is abnormal, bearings 20, 21 for making the both members 11, 12 rotatable when the frictional connection is released, are mounted between the both members 11, 12 at axial both sides of a range where the first member 11 and the second member 12 are frictionally connected. The bearings 20, 21 are constituted by angular ball bearings, and the preload is applied to raceway faces of the angular ball bearings 20, 21.
