To provide a torque sensor with magnetizing man-hours reduced because of its magnetization easiness, variations in magnetization intensity reduced, and magnet surfaces prevented from being broken.
This torque sensor includes an elastic member, a magnet, a pair of magnet-side magnetic bodies, a magnetic body part, and a magnetism detection element. The elastic member is coaxially coupled between first and second shafts. The magnet is fixed on one end side of the first shaft or of the elastic member and bipolarly magnetized in an axial direction. The magnetic bodies are each provided with a plurality of lug parts so as to severally stand opposite to circumferential side faces of the magnet and in parallel with the axial direction of the magnet, and the lug parts are fixed to both the axial ends of the magnet so that the lug parts are alternately positioned. The body part is coupled to the second shaft or to the other end side of the elastic member to form a magnetic circuit together with the magnet and the magnetic bodies, and has a structure in which the density of magnetic flux generated in the magnetic circuit changes when its relative position changes with respect to the pair of magnetic bodies. The magnetism detection element is used for detecting the density of the magnetic flux generated in the magnetic circuit.
